College of Nursing Building Renovation
The entire 87,600 square foot College of Nursing building located on the Health Sciences campus of the University of Utah will be renovated. In addition, the current building will be expanded by 9,600 square feet by fully enclosing the first level of the building to create a state-of-the art Simulation Learning Center. This renovation and expansion project will update the entire building and extend its life for another 40 years.
The project will also create an asbestos-free environment for the students, faculty, and staff. In addition, structural reinforcements will be added for seismic stability, much of the HVAX system will be replaced, ADA deficiencies will be eliminated, and the electrical system will be upgraded to support current and future data transmission and technology. Upon project completion, the functionality and utilization of the entire building will be greatly improved with a complete mechanical electrical and seismic upgrade. The project will include significant renovation and remodel of the majority of the existing interior and exterior space. The Simulation Learning Center (inpatient simulation) that will be created on the first level will be an interdisciplinary learning environment for the entire campus and community.
